“My work suffered, a period of acute lack of confidence and withdrawal followed, and my appointment was terminated as the work of the research station folded up.
Begins Periodically Praying for Enlightenment
The experience which came as a liberation from the state described above must have been in the spring of 1940, my age then being 26. I think I must have been in the habit of praying formally for enlightenment in what had become darkness.
Bright Light (

The experience itself was one of an amazing bright light in the form of an inward illumination, not of a kind detectable by eye, but one was seeing things and people in a way not previously experienced. They were seen lit up as though in a glow. Although this event could be pinpointed almost to the day and has never been repeated, one’s whole being was suffused . . .
Feelings of Warmth & Wellbeing
a state of wellbeing is a tame way of describing the response. One’s thinking was elevated to an exalted plane, no evil was apparent, only pristine freshness and warmth.”
