“...I was exceedingly anxious and self-reproachful over this matter of improper feeding of the infant, which had been due to the fact that immediately after his birth I had experienced the strange phenomenon of falling in love at first sight with a complete stranger who happened to be a visitor in my house . . . I lived an entirely domestic life in Naini Tal, but it was my habit after giving my small son his 6 a.m. bottle feed to dress quickly and having handed him to the nurse, climb up a steep zigzag path at the back of our chalet to a ridge which commanded a magnificent view of the Himalayas — Trisul, Nanda-Devi range.
